Confused once again; what I thought was going to be a simple ID of an Eristalis species has got me stumped. Can't quite get the yellow rings correct.
Maybe a wasp mimic instead of a drone fly mimic? Or quite possibly something totally different altogether.
Any pointers in the right direction appreciated.  |

Not an Eristalis, but is a hoverfly, possibly Sericomyia lappona. |

Once again, thanks are due to Oxycera. I had reached, and rejected, Sericomyia silentis but don't think I would ever have found Dasysyrphus. | | |
