Moth for ID, please


I think this is a day-flying moth rather than a butterfly, and I suspect it's an easy one to identify. What is it, please?

Thanks neil (and Lance), that was quick!

I did skim through my little butterflies and moths book first - having looked again I'm not surprised I missed it as the drawing in the book doesn't make the white patches on the wing-tips very clear.

I wish I had more time to learn about moths. This is certainly a new one for me.
