Yesterday, I found an injured bee, it had a large hole in its back and although I have some ideas as to how this occured, I would be interested in anyone else's view. To see pics go to: Injured Bee |

I've never seen anything as bad as that before, I would go along with Jules and say that a parasite is the most likely cause, but you cant rule out a bird attack completely. |

My guess would be bird - though they usually go for the abdomen.

I think i would be right in saying that it was caused by the Alien monster that emerged from John Hurt in the film!!!!

i'd defintely say parasite attack - if you look carefull you can see that the outside edges are pushed out as though they were pushed from below - in a bird attack the edges would be pushed in.
there are a number of parsitic wasps which do this to other insects
