Unidentified creatures

I found these two beasts on a window cill. Each is between 1 and 2 mm long.

Can anyone identify them please?

The second one looks very much like a carpet beetle (prob Anthrenus verbasci) - errr that's a pest species

and closely related to the dreaded museum beetle.

I'll concur on Carpet Beetle- a definite undesirable in the house! Can't help with the spider.

Yep, def carpet beetle - i've found a few in the house recently too - it's the time they hatch out! Have checked all my vulnerable things and nothing on them so no idea where they come from! They must be pretty common tho - i've also spotted one at someone else's house last week and saw some larvae stuck to a moth trap at work!
