| | | Re: Hoverfly for ID I can see how you thought it might be a hoverfly, Paul. With those long antennae it does resemble some of the Chrysotoxum species. And the wing tips don't clearly show any wing veins which would have been a good clue.
However, after running this through my Soldierfly ID book, I come up with Stratiomys potamida. But I don't give any guarantee about that.
Apparently a previously uncommon species which appears to be increasing in numbers over the past thirty or so years.. |
