| | african insect? Hello all,
apologies, yes,I know its WAB, but this has been tried on other sites, so I suggested I post on WAB, trusting you good folks to help if poss!
African, nothing else known. 4 marked wings and long thin antennae, looks lacewingish but wings wrong.
Any help gratefully received - steer to genus or even order would be a start!
Thanks a lot
Ken

| | | Re: african insect? I guess it should be some kind of Lacewing. But it will be problematic to identify, because this one is freshly emerged from Larvae (they don't have a pupal stadium). You should have been waiting for one or two hours to take the photograph.
Regards
Klaas

| | | Re: african insect? The first shot I looked at, the one of the underside, reminded me of any hemipteran/cicadellid I've ventrally-examined. The lack of a rostrum or spined ltibiae knocks that type on the head - and as suggested, it does look rather lacewing-like. A neuropteran at any rate! |

| | | Re: african insect? The venation doesn't look right for a neuropteran, to me. How about a caddis? |

Good old WAB.
Lacewing, possibly Caddis then - at least we can follow that lead.
Cheers
