Question Unidentified Black Bug
The attached photo is of a dark brown bug, approx 20mm in length which appeared in our house this morning. Can anyone help with the identification.

It's the Western Conifer Seed Bug Leptoglossus occidentalis: a recent arrival which is spreading rapidly.

The national Biological Records Centre has an online recording site for this species: RISC - Western Conifer Seed Bug.

There is additional information (including a DEFRA fact sheet) available at the British Bugs website, or you can search this site for other threads about this insect.
