I don't think that this is a Large Red Damselfly, which tend to have a least some obvious red colouring as soon as they emerge (+ the eyes don't look right).

Do you have any other shots, including other angles? It is often possible to identify damselflies before any colour has developed, but you generally need to be able to examine them closely.
