| | staphlynid beetle dartmoor Well i cant say id expect this to be named.. everyone knows how notoriously difficult staphs are.. Just curious about any info people might care to venture. it was very small prob about 5mm max.. Is it immature is my first question.. has that slightly transparent look of a youngster to my eyes.
Was on a rocky walk topped with moss and lichen. Looked to be activrly hunting.
Cheers

I can never find enough of 'em to warrant any explorative key-work on my part, so I suppose I should leave this to one side.

| | | Re: staphlynid beetle dartmoor Pretty much the reason i left it on the wall.. i assumed it would probably require dissection for identification and then only by an expert on staphs as well.
I find staphs a lot less frequently thsn carabids which seems odd when they make up a bigger percent of the beetle species. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
