Insect on alder catkin
Fingers crossed. Here's another one for the entomologists out there. I photographed this insect on an alder catkin at Martin Mere last April. Any help with ID appreciated

It is a female chironomid midge either Chironomus sp. or Glyptotendipes sp.

Thanks again Laurence, a female presumably because it doesn't have the feathered antennae
