Hello,
can anyone id this bee, is it a violet carpenter beetle? Photoed in June/July on the east coast
I'm listing my years sitings and it's be good to be specific.

I wasn't lucky enough to see it, this is someone elses photo. Will be keeping my eyes & ears open for one next year though |

By the way it's a Violet Carpenter Bee not beetle, Xylocopa violacea. |

I did mean bee not beetle  was looking up beetles for id at same time as this bee, that's my only excuse & I didn't even notice when I re-read my request!
This bee was photo'ed in June/July 2011 at Landguard Nature Reserve, Suffolk. OS Grid TM283 312, Long/Lat 51.93, 1.32
