I agree on I. rutilans, actually - forgot about the females... It is odd how it seems to have the wrinkles of decimusquartus, though.

The other... still not sure, but vitreus was one of the ones I was considering. It's just a bit abnormal for any of them, so alas, we're not going to get a good answer from the one photo.

I was wondering if there was a straightforward way to ID male/female as in say hoverflies space between the eyes. So did a bit of searching and came across this document - does this happen in other hoppers? Is the change apparent visually or only by examination with a microscope?
