Hi farplace, hope it's ok to put my post here as it's not about midges, but it is on the same theme...
I have 3 Red Admiral butterflies flying about just outside, and pitching on the windows and house walls. There are some rotting apples under the tree, which I understand they are attracted by, and lots of michaelmus daisies, though they have mostly finished flowering. I presume these beautiful butterflies will unfortunately die when the frosts start, shame they didn't fly to warmer climes when they should have done.......Global warming?? Such a shame.
