Red insect - what could it be

Hi

I found what I believe to be a centipede in my bathroom this evening, I noticed it running across the floor at great speed. It had the following characteristics:

Red / Orange in colour
2 - 3 cm long
lots of legs
2 or more antenna
What looked like a pointy tail

I was unable to count legs or take a photo. From my expert description what could it be? Is it dangerous and should I expect to find more of them?

Kind of freaked me out as I have never found anything like this in my flat before - I live on the 3rd floor with no balcony.

Sounds like a centipede or house centipede - neither of which are dangerous.

Your insect could be a millipede or centipede. I have never had a problem with them and they are usually quite solitary so I don't think you need worry about loads appearing.
