| | | August Andrena species possibly? Just sorting through my unidentified files and I found this one which appears to key to a male Andrena species; but I could be totally wrong.
And if so, is it possible to get any further? I have a couple of ideas which I am trying to follow up but would appreciate any expert advice.

Perhaps I was trying too hard for an identification and missed the obvious. |

| | | Re: August Andrena species possibly? For me, it's too 'fat' for an Andrenid. Spend some time comparing the make-up of the legs, and scape of the antennae.
The first thing that hit me was the bi-colourous thorax. The hairs on the 'face' are similar to some Andrena, but the antennae would be wrong. |

| | | Re: August Andrena species possibly? Thanks.
Apart from getting confused over the face hair I was trying to compare the last sub marginal cell length with the previous one and that convinced me I was looking at an Andrena species which I didn't recognise.
But I suppose if it had been an easy one it wouldn't have languished for so long in my unidentified files. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
