Hi All,
I was intrigued by a bristletail I found on a the bark of a small sheltered coastal shrub today (hawthorn I think) - it was down on Berry head in Devon, and I'm fairly certain it is a dilta species, either hibernica or littoralis as it has ocelli towards the outer corners of its main compound eyes (as per information in an article about another bristletail Trigoniophthalmus alternatus by Chris Proctor).
The only trouble is.. I can find very little information about thyanura/Machilidae on the net.
.. the only book I can find on them is M.J. Delanay 1954 - at £15 seems a bit steep for a 7 pager! (plus p&p naturally)
So anyone know how to split them?
In any case thanks for reading,
Matt
