| | Beetle ID please? Some kind of Longhorn? Hi!
I'm new to the forum! I found this (not so) little guy wandering down my lounge wall last evening.... he's about an inch and a half long from top of antenaae to back of his legs. I have been trying to identify him online and he looks to me like some kind of longhorn? But he has those different funky markings? He moves slowly.
I am a little concerned as we live in a very old property that has suddenly become very run down...damp on ceilings etc, and our wooden windows downstairs are very rotten. I also read that in warm weather house longhorn larvae can be heard & there are unusual noises like a scratchy scrape at night in the roof...I assumed must just be birds with clobbhopper boots on up there. An ID would be fab as I can take my new friend to the rental agency and know abit about him. Thanku!! |

It's a true bug, not a beetle - I can say no more than that from this picture but one of the experts should be along soon. It's not something you need to worry about, I think ... |

Big sigh of relief that he's not been eating the house...lols. From what I have just read it would seem they are quite rare? And rather bizarre he found his way to the 2nd story of an old Victorian house? What do you advise I do with him?

What should I do with him now? It is ok to release him or ?? |

There's no problem releasing it as it's not considered a pest here (though can be in parts of the US) + appears now to be established here now. |

It would be the same pic I tried to send... | If you could reduce the file size that will probably help - I think this normally solves the problem. Let me know how you get on. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
