Bug ID - Fluorescent Yellow Markings?

Hi there, new to the forum and am looking if anyone can help.

I was on holiday last week on Cornwall and on a bench under a table were a couple of strange looking insects. They were the same, but one larger than the other - six legs

- they were about 6-10mm long and had square like really bright green/yellow markings on their back, white in colour and what appeared to be a larvae near by with very similar markings - have tried looking on the Gallery and "Googling" but cannot seem to find anything that looks like it?

Any ideas?!

Top marks for trying...........have a look at ladybird larvae (plural, singular is larva). Just about impossible to identify from your description, and demonstrates the importance of even a bad photograph!

My first thought would be one of the leafhoppers (Cicadellidae) like the Potato Leafhopper or Rhododendron Leafhopper for example.

Failing that try a Capsid or Mirid bug (Miridae) there are quite a few of these which could be possible.
