The apparent extra long wings are simply due to the abdomen camera angle.

I did get this very brightly coloured Eristalis though, higher up:
Tenax or pertinax - I can never remember!

| | | Re: Late hoverfly for ID Impossibly to tell from that angle. And there are a few other possibilities amongst the Eristalis family.
I take it that bit of orange coming from it's rear is part of the leaf. If it is actually a hind leg, E. rupium could be possible. But either way we need some different angles. |
