| | I need help identifying a sawfly larva I am new to this forum and I'm not sure what to do. I have found a sawfly larva which was taken from a tent- like structure hanging from a hawthorn bush in a garden in Devon on 17th July this year. I think I have downloaded the images of the larva. It is orange with a pair of black spots on the first thoracic segment. It is 2 cm long.
I hope someone can identify it for me.
If what I am doing is wrong could someone tell me how to use this forum .
I have not heard of a thread or a tag before and there is no explanation to help me. |

then consider Neurotoma saltuum.
The information in the associated thread is probably useful too.
(I hope by providing links to a picture and a thread on the WAB site that they may provide a concrete illustration of some of the terms). |

| | Re: I need help identifying a sawfly larva Dear Postchiavanus,
Many thanks for your info. My caterpillar is just like your photos of Neurostoma saltuum. I can't upload my photos because they are too large and I don't know that I have the facility to decrease their size. I am having difficulties in using this website.

| | | Re: I need help identifying a sawfly larva There are lots of free tools for changing photo size, but a lot of standard software, like Microsoft Office Picture Manager, or software that came with your camera, also provide this type of facility. Often there is an option like "Save for the web..." which is geared to uploading smaller versions of photos to photo sharing sites, forums etc.. Smaller photos not only take up less disk space but a much faster to load for users.
Uploading photos doesn't seem straightforward in the first instance (mainly, I think, because the starting page is one or two clicks away). If you click HERE it should take you to the right page. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
