Help with Beetle ID please

Can any one help to ID this beetle found at Moth trap the other night

Welcome to WAB.

It's a Scarab Beetle, Scarabaeidae by the antennal formation. Not sure which, someone else will be along shortly.

Hi Mally and welcome...not a deffinate id from me.

There is a possible candidate and that is Aphodius rufipes, i often have this is my trap. http://www.thewcg.org.uk/scarabaeidae/0009G.htm

What size was your beetle?

Size was about 10 mm.
Must remember in future to put a scale in the photos

I would expect it to be A. rufipes, the colour, size, situtation etc seems to fit.

You will probably get more of these turning up....If you check the pronotum and it has a mix of small and large puntures, with size over 9mm, this colour, then it will be A. rufipes.
