Night time insect noise

Hi I'm new here. I was hoping somebody would be able to identify a strange noise I keep hearing coming from my wardrobe. I have been too chicken to pull everything out and investigate so thought I would try an get a heads up as to what it could be first. We live in a really old cold damp house and have o deal with dust mites in every room but these wouldn't make a noise audible to human ears would they? The sound is a clicking sound like "clicka clicka clicka" it's quite rhythmical and about half a second apart. It has to be something living as there is definitely nothing mechanical or electrical in that area of my bedroom (before someone suggests it) I only ever hear it in the evenings and night time. Never during the day. Please somebody know what it is! Oh and I'm positive it's not rodents!!!

You haven't said how loud it appears. It's probably something like the so-called Death-watch Beetle, Xestobium rufovillosum. The sound is pretty quiet in comparison to say a rodent-created noise would be, but is loud-enough to be heard across a very quiet room and tracked from there. The bursts will be separated by a few seconds.

Yeah that's about right. Only just audible in a quiet room and for a couple of seconds. Best get googling hadn't I... Thanks
