| | Carpet Beetle 'bites' Help please. I have carpet beetle eggs, larvae and adults taken over my life!
After years of exposure at home I have become sensitive to the wooly bear hairs etc. The culprit being the carpet beetle brought into the attic years ago by birds and wasps nesting there. My body is ravaged by the scabs and inflammation brought on from exposure to the carpet beetle larvae and eggs, daily . A consultant dermatologist I saw recently reported and documented my symptoms with the diagnosis I was dillusional. The medical experts are not sympathetic and I am treated with steroid creams which exacerbate the condition. Someone please help!!

If you have skin troubles have medics taken samples? I see you have some research information, let's hope it squashes the idea that you are delusional.

Yes the house has been checked and pest controlled for confirmed carpet beetle but the problem persists. Medics are unhelpful and not taken biopsies of adhered shed larvae skins on my scalp and buttocks.
This is where I am frustrated and annoyed at not having any professional help to deal with this very real problem to my health.
Any help out there would be very welcome. |

| | | Re: Carpet Beetle 'bites' what have you done so far to rid your house of the little blighters ? I had to take up carpets in my old house and put down laminate flooring because my son kept sneezing, that was dust mites I think.

| | Re: Carpet Beetle 'bites' Thanks for the reply and advice. In brief this is what I have done to solve my carpet beetle problem........ 1 Contact the environmental expert who correctly identified carpet beetle, found the food sources - v old nests in loft. Had pest control in. Ongoing insecticides and steam cleaning. 2 The house has been redecorated and new furniture flooring, bedding soft furnishings etc. It is also up for sale! I wash/boil where possible with borax and detergent/bleach. Use clove oil/cedar blocks as deterrent as well as recommended insect killers. I aam desperate and will try anything. 3. Have vac packed all clothes and material items which are not used immediately. 4. The cylce of cleaning steaming etc continues. 5. Needless to say I have replaced my vacuum cleaner and have industrial steamers for floors and other areas. Anything else you can think of I would be grateful for. Please let me know of anyone else who has been through this and come through sane at the other end!! and 5. 1 am in contact with a professor from Penn State University Entemology Dept, by email. 6. I attended a workshop to study the life cycle of the beetle given by a University professor. 7. I have insect magnification tubs etc and collected samples at different stages to provide as evidence for the medical appointments I have attended. Thanks again. p.s. Already seen the article and provided it with evidence when attended my appointments for treatment for my skin problems associated with the CB larvae etc. Please do find out more for me and help me resolve this ongoing situation. Regards D. |

| | | Re: Carpet Beetle 'bites' After all that I can't understand why there would be any carpet beetles left, what would they be living on? Are you in a very old house or a farm? I'm very sorry to hear you have had such a problem.
