1 Hoverfly for id please
Found today, resting on my front door in Northampton. Not sure at all on this one! Rather large - slightly elongated. Wings as you can see are covering abdominal features, some red colouring within.

Actually a Soldier-fly, likely Sargus bipunctatus.

It's an easy mistake to make, John. Particularly if you can't see the wing veins.
