| | | A couple of flies and hovers for input, please Various today that I don't think I've had before, and just rough steers would be great if it's not possible to say more!
Just one shot of this, and probably I should know it, but I'm thrown by the pale face?
And then this, with a black rim all round, should be Eupeodes luniger, but the blue-green thorax and scutellum seem odd, or is that OK?
And last of all this, with a smudge in each wing, but I couldn't get properly above it... Thanks for any help! |

| | | Re: A couple of flies and hovers for input, please #1 Calliphoridae, judging by the hairy thorax I think it's Pollenia sp. which you won't be able to get to species level.
#2 Platycheirus peltatus or nielseni female, you need a close look at tibia 2 to tell the difference. The face has dusting but there's some glare on it.
#3 is Eupeodes luniger female, the flower looks to be reflecting on the thorax giving the blue-green impression.
#4 Looks like Muscidae female, could be Phaonia which has a long bristle on the hind tibia near the apex (near the foot end and the foot is not just the last segment, it has several usually 5) but they usually have one at the end, it should be a little above the end on the rear side.
