| | Honey sucker. Would like help to identify a visitor to my garden. Size: about that of a large bumble bee. Did not settle on plant but hovered in front of it. Wings, possibly 4 of a orangy colour. Back of body blue/grey. rear end widened to a wider v shape and multicoloured. facial area pointed with a long 2-3cm tube which it inserted into the flower. Stayed long enough for me to fetch camera but became agressive when I got near to it. Tried but could not get a helpful picture. I am a keen gardener but have not seen anything like it in my 80yrs. has anyone any ideas please? Thanks. |
