| | | Very glam - is it Sargus bipunctatus? This was having a wash and brush up in the garden today - very beautiful colours! Looking through images I'm thinking it's a Two-spot Soldier fly, unless there are look-alikes to catch the unwary?! Thanks in hope! |

| | | Re: Very glam - is it Sargus bipunctatus? Not so easy I'm afraid!
Look at some others which are similar, you might be able to get a species for it if you post on diptera.info. Reading some previos posts can help too.. Diptera.info - Search: Search Results
We have 4 Sargus sp. The Society for the study of flies (Diptera)

| | | Re: Very glam - is it Sargus bipunctatus? Thanks Janet! That's the perfect steer. I have trillions more angles and will love going through those 4 choices and trying to home in! (I fail at the first with diptera.info - never yet been able to register - never get an email back with a password and I do check the spam, promise! But at least with your links I can see those options- smashing! ) |

| | | Re: Very glam - is it Sargus bipunctatus? Groan. Well I can't get any closer, and it's SO agonising that I can't register with diptera info. I've tried again four times tonight and still can't insert the correct security code. I've tried the audio ones too. I can see and hear the codes, so something goes wrong that's beyond my fathoming. I don't suppose you have any ideas?! |

| | | Re: Very glam - is it Sargus bipunctatus? PS. Just to let you know I found an email address which seemed to be for 'Paul', so I have written to it describing my difficulties, and will hope to hear back, sooner or later! |

Finally I have made it onto diptera.info too (thanks to Paul) so perhaps now I'll raise that recent Stomorhina query there as well. |
