Abdominal markings seem light blue when flying but masked by wings at rest.
Length 8mm

I suspect those abdomen markings were actually silvery grey which would make it Platycheirus albimanus.

But I would like to see a clear shot of these markings to be absolutely certain.

Thanks Jason and Geoff, unfortunatly he did not play ball for inflight shots, its quite possible the blueness was reflected from the sky in the silver grey.
