Hi folks, we`ve been looking in the Hoverflies for this one, not sure which it is though (if it is one!)

Unfortunately the 'important bits' are rather unclear with this image.
However, I would start by considering Eristalis intricarius. |

If you look closely through the right wing you can see the inflated dark hind leg. It has the general look of Eristalis tenax, female.
I think you meant not E. intricaria Dogg!

Many thanks for your interest folks, we did look at Eristalis Tenax (honestly  ) and thought it was the closest
