| | | Forest Bug. Hi Guy's. Was in Hornsea the other day and whilst there, bought a punnet of Raspberries. Imagine my surprise when I got back home to Hull, to find a lovely Forest Bug sat in among the Raspberries. I caught it in my portable gas chamber and put him into a gentle sleep, set up my camera and waited until he began to wake up. He very obligingly allowed me to photograph him.
Later in the day, I took him to a wooded area near to my home and let him go on a tallish Hawthorne tree. He climbed slowly up till he disapeared. What I want to know, because I am given to understand that they live on Oak and Pine trees, is, will he survive in a wooded area where there are no such trees and only Sycamore, Hawthorne and Elderberry trees growing? His home is at least 22 miles away. Guess I am concerned about this creature. Anyone any ideas? Regards and thanks. Walt. |

| | | Re: Forest Bug. Yes, it'll be fine - they can live on quite a few species, especially as adults. And if it really gets homesick, then of course it can fly off and find somewhere better. |

| | | Re: Forest Bug. Hi Acutipuerilis. Thanks for the reply and for putting my mind at ease. I do so hope that it will find a mate in that place and be able to breed. Do we know how far the Forest Bug can fly? I just wondered. Regards Walt. |
