I'm going to piggy back on this thread as I'm aware of another book due out shortly a photo guide to British Plant Galls compiled by Michael Chinery. This is published by WildGuides, but is the culmination of a long-standing initiative of the British Plant Gall Society ( disclosure: I am a member). I've seen a copy and the photographs and reproduction is excellent: there are some sample pages on the link. As this covers a goodly number (150-200) of the galls most commonly encountered, it may be more appealing than the FSC keys. Certainly the whole reason for the BPGS doing the project is get more people interested in galls. It's not too late to use in the field this year either! |
