| | | Injured Bush Cricket Appears to be missing a couple of legs and an antenna. Was surprised to see it on the wall of the entrance to my block of flats. How long might it have been like this? I would have thought it wouldn't be able to jump, but it must have got there somehow.

| | | Re: Injured Bush Cricket it's quite common for grasshoppers to have missing limbs and they seem to cope fairly well without them. I assume the same is true of crickets. In terms of jumping, they use their rear legs for that so it should still be able to jump OK. Landing, however,....

| | | Re: Injured Bush Cricket Probably been in a stand off with a bird and lost a limb or two!
More interestingly though, and I hope others confirm, I think this is a Southern Oak Bush-cricket. Pretty new to this country as I understand it. Wait for confirmation from a more experienced entomologist.

| | | Re: Injured Bush Cricket Might this be another? This one was stretched out underneath a rail in my local park...
I'm assuming that there must be more than one around. This one was 'whole'. I had another look a few mins ago and the injured one is still there so got a slightly better photo
