| | | Beetle/Bug I have quite a few of these in the house over the last few weeks, the have reddish brown wings when unfolded.
Apologies for the poor pics, only had my phone to hand and its only about 1-2mm long.
I really hope its not woodworm or something.
So any ideas?
Thanks

| | | Re: Beetle/Bug Could be a carpet beetle. We used to get loads of them at my last house (and yes, we did vac regularly!), to the point where we had a Devils Coach Horse that made a few appearances, probably because of all the food available! |

| | | Re: Beetle/Bug I suppose they could be, I looked up photo's of them, they look similar but still don't look the exact same.
We don't have that much soft furnishing and no carpets so hopefully if it is them they won't take hold.
Is there anything else like these or is there any recommendations to keep them out, we use chopped wood in solid fuel burners, would they come in on the timber?

| | | Re: Beetle/Bug It is family Scolytidae, genus Leperisinus. Two possible species I cant sepparate by this photo.

| | | Re: Beetle/Bug I think you may be right about it being a bark beetle, some of the firewood has holes like woodworm in the bark and I looked up the different species and they look similar to Leperisinus fraxini although I couldn't be positive.
Thanks Klaas | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
