| | | Mirid plant bug - is it a Tarnished? I hadn't heard of these, and can't tell from googling if there is a lot of variation in a species' patterning - in which case this looks like a pale Tarnished plant bug Lygus rugulipennis - or if subtle things make a difference - in which case it could be something quite different? (Very attractive in an art deco way, and sad to see so many google entries about how to eradicate!)
Also, this on the window, has to be another Sermylassa halensis? There's nothing similar to confuse it with? |

| | | Re: Mirid plant bug - is it a Tarnished? The bug is certainly a Lygus, but you can't sepatrate it from pratensis or maritimus (or even wagneri) from this image. If it's any consolation, this is one of the hardest UK bug genera...

| | | Re: Mirid plant bug - is it a Tarnished? I should have guessed! But thank you very much for the info Joe! Now I know what I'm up against I can google L. pratensis, L. maritimus and L. wagneri and learn a bit more about the characteristics, etc. All very absorbing!
