| | | Beetle identification required I Googled information on beetles and looks as though you guys are the experts!
I keep finding these little chaps waddling around the house and was wondering whether someone could kindly tell me what they are. Their bodies look like a hard speckled brown shell and they are approx 10mm. They tend to be found near the skirting boards... [img]http://

| | | Re: Beetle identification required Looks very much like Otiorhynchus, the Vine weevil. If so, it will have nothing to do with skirting, but much to do with houseplants! |

| | | Re: Beetle identification required Thanks for the responses everyone!
We actually don't have any houseplants, apart from one small one at high level, which the 'weevils' don't appear to have discovered.
However, interestingly, we live in a ground floor apartment and there is lots of shrubbery surrounding the property... I wonder whether they are coming from there? But they definitely barking up the wrong tree as there aren't any vines for them inside! |

| | | Re: Beetle identification required Vine weevils often come inside once the weather starts to turn chilly, I found one inside last night! They like Fuchsias and a few other delicacies, the grubs feed on the roots and can kill plants.
