| | | Spanish Insects for Identification Hi there. I'm hoping that some one on here will have knowledge of Spanish insects and be able to identify a couple of critters for me that I found in Torremolinos, Spain last week.
The first is some kind of Scarab or dung beetle. I found these a few times usually in groups. Sometimes out in the open and sometimes under refugia but always around areas that had horses or wild cats.
The second is either some kind of stick insect or a type of cricket. I found several of these in dry rocky conditions at the bottom of the mountains surrounding the area.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Jason

Thanks. | This is a Tenibrionid beetle - related to mealworms and the like. The name escapes me for the present - its not a Blaps but its not far off.

| | | Re: Spanish Insects for Identification Hi JS
I'd go down the grasshopper route with that, there are ones out there like that, try the Acrida genus, which throws up look a likes and points at this being a grasshopper,I really wouldn't like to say what it is.HTH
You could try the Wild About the World site.
