Beetles in parliament

The last known site for the Pashford pot beetle Cryptocephalus exiguus (Pashford Poors Fen in Suffolk) is rapidly drying out. The last known site in the UK for the Sussex diving beetle Laccophilus poeciloides was Lewes Levels. The run off from the new(ish) A34 enters the site and there are concerns that the water quality has deteriorated.

The Biodiversity Minister was recently asked to explain what he was doing to try to stop these beetles from becoming extinct in a formal parliamentary question. His answer can be read at:
