I'm hoping this is the same small fly that I posted yesterday and might have been a Tachinid, but now I'm wondering if it's the same fly or the patterning on the head is common to lots of flies. Help would be great, either way!   |

It does look like a Siphona sp., not sure if it's S. geniculata though. Mine are about 3.5mm long and brownish, they also appear more 'humped'. We have other Siphona species.

Probably Siphona geniculata as this is the most common member of the genus by far, but I would not like to put a definite name to a Siphona purely from the basis of a photo.
