I'm the new boy on the block and since joining I am spending time trying to identify with common names AND Latin
I'm doing well with my pictures but I have hit a wall when it comes to beetles
These precisely 
A I've never seen this one before but searching I've found a couple it may be
first one is the Cardinal Beetle
the other is the Soldier Beetle
BUT the colour is different so now I'm totally confused
Over to you guys who know these things |

Cantharidae, Rhagonycha fulva. They have been everywhere mating for ages.

OK so that's the Soldier Beetle
How about this Hoverfly at first I thought Marmalade Hoverfly BUT the abdomen is longer and thinner and the banding is thicker and continuous  |
