| | | Red Arm Bands. Hi there. Out in the woods today I came across a beetle which I thought at first to be Tenebrio Molitor. I took a photgraph which sadly did not turn out the way I expected. I want to return and try and find this chappie, but wonder what it actually was. It looked like Tenebrio Molitor, but had red arm bands at the top of each of it's six legs. I have searched Collins Field Guide but there is no such beetle listed. Can anyone help me please? I shall now try and post my poor photo in the Library Images. Thank you. Walt. |

It could be one of the Soldier-beetles, no doubt your photo would make things clearer.
Take care, Jason |

As other Jason says we need a photo...we could be guessing all day(and night).
Frustrating posting images sometimes.
It could also be something like Pterostichus madidus though from your description.

| | | Re: Red Arm Bands. Thanks Deb. I uploaded the photos to the Library, but something must be wrong with my efforts. Glad you found them though. Thanks to Jason Claxton. Yes. The beetle I found is indeed a Pterostichus Madidus. Common maybe, but to this rank beginner it means a lot. So back I go to take better photos of this one. Thanks to all the members for being so kind to me on this. Regards Walt. |
