We saw this beetle crossing the track on Islay. Any ideas anyone?

I believe it's Rhagonycha fulva (Common Red Soldier Beetle), there's loads of these around at the moment

Nige | Nige is right, Aeshna (I think) likes to call them bonking beetles, which is quite apt, they always seem to be at it...........
