| | | Some bugs for ID Here are some bugs I've seen recently.
1 & 2 in moth trap, late July. The closest I could find was Orthops campestris - but not sure:
3 Leafhopper, again in moth trap:
4 In moth trap (ignore the pinkish tinge to wing tips - I think it's my thumb getting in the way!):
5 Stilt bug - Neides tipularius? But couldn't decide if hind femora long enough. This was at Kirkby Moor, an acid heath meadow:
Thanks for any help! |

| | | Re: Some bugs for ID Hi Rachel,
Agree Orthops campestris for #1, but #2 looks better for O. kalmi.
#3 is Lamprotettix nitidulus, #4 one of the birch-feeding Oncopsis species, pehaps O. subangulata.
#5 is the rhopalid bug Chorosoma schillingi, a male. Could I have the record details for this one please?
All the best

| | | Re: Some bugs for ID Thanks Tristan. I was way off with 5... no wonder I couldn't make it fit
Details for 5:
Moor Farm, Lincolnshire. TF221638.
9 August 2011.

| | | Re: Some bugs for ID Chorosoma is superficially very like a stick insect or stilt bug but the wing membrane gives it away as Rhopalidae since it has many closely packed veins. The ocelli are also large and prominent.
Many thanks for the details
