unidentified insects

what are these insects please? They were found in the garden.

Hi jaypeebee and welcome to WAB! I, for one, haven't a clue, but I'd be interested to know, so I hope an expert comes along soon and helps us all out!

hi jp and welcome to WAB!
I'll have a stab at a Tachinid, Dexia rustica for the fly and the beetle looks similar to Necrobia ruficollis. Nice shots.
Someone will know with more certainty I should think, but I dont think I'm far off (ha!).

Ohhh - Nice

This is the Tachinid Prosena siberita, the forward pointing proboscis is diagnostic in the UK. Don't see many of these.

Could I have the record details please for the Recording Scheme.

Many thanks for your identification of Tachinid Prosena Siberita.
This was found on my washing (together with a couple of others!) in my garden in Poole, Dorset, UK.
