| | | Two flies and a hoverfly I saw these on my allotment.
1. I have confidently called this Scaeva pyrastri, but am I correct please?
2.
I think this is a sarcophaga of some sort.
3. This fly caught my eye because of its yellow abdomen. I cannot find anything similar in my insect book. Can anyone help?
Many thanks. |

| | | Re: Two flies and a hoverfly I would agree with Scaeva pyrastri. I did wonder about Eupeodes luniger but that wide eye angle does seem more like S. pyrastri.
The sarcophaga family are rather tricky so that one requires an expert. And the same applies to the third one which appears to be one of the Tachinidae family. |
