Question Help what is this?
I bought this lavender plant earlier today and found this funny looking thing on it. Any ideas what it is? Thanks

Its a hoverfly, looks like Scaeva pyrastri .

Some kind of hoverfly - there are loads about at the minute and completely harmless

Enjoy them as they will eat aphids in the garden

Someone might give you an ID.

Thanks everyone they are amazing to watch as they do 'hover' they love my new lavender so that was worth the money :-)
