| | | beetle with thighs I saw a beetle in shropshire last week. About 5 mm long, shiny black and almost a perfect oval except for protruding 'thighs' that I'm pretty sure it used to jump a fair distance and disappear. Can't find anything in my books. |

Your description seems to match a number of the Flea -Beetles.
