Wasp ?

Hi all, first post. Sorry no pics but have had some wasp looking insect that are using some holes in a brick wall and then sealed them up using leaves.

Any one now if this is some kind of wasp or something different.

Hi bingweed, and welcome to WAB! It sounds as though you are lucky enough to have some leaf-cutter bees - delightful little bees and wonderful to watch. You'll find various threads about them in this site, the different species and so on.. threads like this one (and generally speaking folk feel very happy to leave them alone, and know that they'll not be a problem) >

Have a look for them flying in with bits of leaf they've cut (hence the name

) to seal their holes

If you get too close they might fly around you but I've yet to here of one stinging, just move a bit further away or stay still as they are fascinating to watch

They love to use those bamboo cane homes you can get for them

Also if you have any trees in the garden look for circles cut out of the leaves - they use buddleia in mine
