never seen a wasp take an ant before fly away then came back . it was activley hunting the ants i have seen them going through brambles etc and take catapillars but never ants.
any one else seen them taking ants ?

It seems some wasps pick ants up and drop them elsewhere to get them away from the food they are competing for! It has been found in New Zealand but the wasp is our common one, Vespula vulgaris.

There's a jumping pop-up on this site, just leave it as if you click the box to close it another page will open.

afternoon JR this happend on my patio no food source that i could see ants nest under neath mt patio the wasp took 3 ants not seen it again this happend yesterday 1530 ish thanks for reply
