It is one of the more uncommon Volucella species. I would say V. zonaria female was the most likely.
They can be a bit variable in colouration. But it doesn't quite look right for my alternative suggestion of V. inanis. |

I would also say V. zonaria which I get frequently in my garden. I've only managed 1 V. inanis so far this year. |
