| | Red bug with sting on the head I was stung by a red bug a week ago, and got a red ichy lump on my arm untill now, there was a blister in the middle. It was hurt when it was on my arm, so I just flicked it off quickly.
Today, I found the same bug in my garden again. It has 6 legs, 2 antennae, a sharp sting on the head like a mosquito. It looks like a beetle, but much smaller, about 2mm long, very bright red, sames not able to fly. Never got stung or bit in my garden, actually this is the second time I got stung recently, at first time I didn't see what bit me.
Still very new here, may upload a pic once I learnt how to
Anyone has an idea what is it? I live in southwest England. |

a pic would help the experts (not me!),
this may help to put it in the images file, then drop it into your post: http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...otos-info.html
Cheers

| | | Re: Red bug with sting on the head It sounds like a nymph of an Anthocoridae bug, they can make a nasty bite! They have a long feeding tube which tucks under the body. Anthocoridae bug nymph - Google Search

| | | Re: Red bug with sting on the head Wow - That's interesting Janet, I've watched and photographed the nymphs of many Anthocoridae bugs but I never knew they could bite! I'm not surprised though as they've got an evil looking rostrum that looks well able to pierce human skin.

| | | Re: Red bug with sting on the head Yes they do bite. I got bitten once and what a pain such a tiny thing causes! It swells into a wide red lump and takes ages to heal.

Bruce | Oh! yes, thanks Bruce!
I was just about to upload some pics, no need now
We have been live here for a few years, that was first time got bitten.
Watched a movie about a kind of creature released from melt ice in north pole, and they bite people and laying eggs in human's body....really creepy |
